Essential oil with rose petals on wooden background

When I started my journey with essential oils I had no idea that I would just fall in love with them. I only knew a very basic, even less than basic on how to use them and what it is. But to be able to use them correctly and especially with my kids, I had to learn. During the process of learning I opened up a completely new world for myself.

Aromatherapy can be described as a therapeutic use of essential oils to enhance the psychological and physical well-being.  Essential oils are the volatile, aromatic, non-water soluble substances obtained from the different parts of the plants. When you smell the plant and you feel the aroma comes from it that is the essential oil of that plant. They are highly concentrated therefore even a single drop of it would give you an immense therapeutic benefit.

Essential oils have been used for thousands of years all around the world as a medicine, as a perfume and in a cosmetic preparations. They are very versatile, they are used to enhance health and vitality on all possible levels such as physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Essential oils are obtained from different parts of the plant, like flowers, leaves, fruits, berries, seeds, gums, roots, barks, shrubs.

As I already mentioned essential oils are extracted from different parts of a plant, for example, rose is extracted from the flowers when peppermint is extracted from the leaves, lemon and orange from the fruit, frankincense from the gum, juniper from berries and carrot seed from the seeds, ginger and angelica from the root of a plant.

Interesting fact is that not all the plant would have the essential oils in them. Only the aromatic plant would have it. Why is it so, even scientists can’t give an answer. But from what is available for us is already a whole beautiful aromatic world.
